(Friday, 24th May) A great panel led by Jon Giegengack from Hub Entertainment Research at the Streaming Media NYC event this week.
While discussions revolved around many well prepped topics, the panellists spoke their mind!
NBCUniversal´s Director, Creative Products, Content Distribution, Shannon J. McKenzie expressed the philosophies of storytelling, where consumers must be the focal point for effective presentation of metadata and content with functional search and discovery features.
Andrew Fitzgerald, SVP, Streaming Services, GM, of Very Local from Hearst Television presented his local network´s streaming apps and how their content is available, relevant to local cities across the USA in the CTV space, where devices are not able to distinguish between regions or cities to ensure localised content. Hearst has navigated this with great UIUX within their Apps on larger devices.
The VP of Product for Emerging Tech, Blake Bassett from Tubi, who has some of the best UIUX for FAST TV across devices, discussed how generative AI is used across their products, as we look forward to their growth globally.
Our own Ajey Anand added how it is important for OEMs like Samsung Tizen, LG, Roku, TitanOS, etc, who have taken the role of distributors across CTVs and how they should help tackle content fragmentation. He added that the industry needs to look forward to a day where more apps can be efficiently launched and managed within App Stores. He stressed that content libraries & presentation within premium TV Apps, should take lessons from social media apps, to ensure an audience who relies more on discovery as content production increases year on year.
Overall a great conference hosted by Streaming Media Magazine and Evan Shapīro for running a flawless show with great and relevant discussions!
