BUILD ONCE: iOS & ANDROID
Building separate native apps, particularly on iOS and Android operating systems, is a thing of the past.
Norigin Media emphasizes efficiencies of costs and operations by building cross-platform apps with common technology stacks, like React Native.
React Native is a tried and tested, native codebase serving mobiles as well as Smart TVs. It not only serves Samsung Tizen, LGWeb OS, and other web-platforms, but also Apple TV and Android TV. By using React Native you replace three separate tech stacks (web, apple and android) with one single cross-platform solution. This helps companies cut repetitive engineering costs, while improving efficiencies of release schedules and feature parity across apps.
Why React Native?
React Native is a long-standing, and open-source cross-platform framework with over a decade of production use across some of the world’s most demanding applications. Unlike proprietary SDKs tied to a specific device manufacturer or operating system, React Native was open sourced by Meta in 2015 and is now globally managed by the developer community, meaning your technology choice stays independent of any external roadmaps.
The choice of using such a stable, extensively documented framework backed by continuous community investment, ensures stability and certainly of the choice of technology to build your cross platform apps. For teams building at scale, React Native offers the rare combination of long-term reliability and genuine platform independence. Norigin Media has been building Reactive Native apps across devices for leading broadcasters and operators for many years.
Many App Stores, One Release
React Native TV App development means simultaneous, feature-consistent releases across every platform and OS. A single shared codebase allows for product and feature updates or patches, UI changes, and bug fixes shipped across all platforms including Apple TV, Android TV, and Smart TVs like Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, VIDAA, TitanOS, Vizio, etc at the same time, eliminating staggered rollouts and platform drift plaguing teams managing separate codebases.
React Native also unifies native TV and web development within the same codebase. Teams with an existing web product can extend to Smart TV without rebuilding from scratch, sharing components, business logic, and design systems across platforms.
Preferred Tech Stack for TV Apps
As the most tested and stable choice to build Apps, React Native helps build CTV or Big Screen apps in the most effective manner. While many cross-platform frameworks were designed for mobile and adapted for CTV or Smart TV Apps as an afterthought. React Native is different. It offers proven, production-tested support across all major CTV platforms, Apple TV (tvOS), Android TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS and more, making it the strongest cross-platform option available for Smart TV development today. Norigin has launched many premium streaming apps across many operating systems using this one single codebase.
Performance on CTV is not an assumption. It has been validated in real-world deployments with measurable KPIs including user tests, efficient operations and release cycles. With our React Native TV solution, Norigin Media offers single libraries for: Focus management, remote control navigation, video player integrations, device detection and performance rendering features that meet expected standards for CTV certification guidelines.

Immediate ROI with React Native
Building natively across platforms requires separate teams, separate QA processes, and separate release cycles. Over the last decade, iOS and Android native development has been commonplace, and highly dependent on key domain expertise by engineering teams with no common persons. React Native replaces that structure with a single cross-platform team, substantially reducing annual engineering costs by close to 50%, once migration is complete. The effect is seen most evidently when React Native not only helps with mobile development but also used on SmartTV or CTV Apps across the fragmented list of operating systems. All this only gets more efficient and effective with the use of artificial intelligence for coding, documenting and testing of Apps across devices.
Your total cost of ownership drops materially right after migration, and the savings grow further over a 3+ year horizon. The efficiency gain is structural: it not only comes from eliminating management overhead and the compounding maintenance costs of parallel codebases, but also the skillset reduced by 3 times while combining web, android and iOS tech stacks.

Frequently asked questions
What platforms does the React Native framework support?
React Native is relevant when you develop on Apple TV (tvOS) and/or Android TV alongside other web-based platforms like Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, Hisense VIDAA, Vizio SmartCast, TitanOS, and more, and also alongside mobiles. Roku is the one exception, as it requires its own proprietary BrightScript environment.
Do we need separate teams for mobile and Smart TV?
No. React Native lets a single cross-platform team ship to mobile and CTV platforms including, tvOS and iOS mobile, Android TV and Android Mobile with one shared codebase, and with updates released to every other smart TV platform, all at the same time.
Do you not suggest nor support other common tech stacks like Flutter, RDK, Svelte, etc?
We offer many technology choices and do not limit our development services only to serve React Native development needs. Many of our customers have apps built with Flutter, and other web technology stacks such as Vuejs, Svelte, Angular and more.
How much can we save by moving to React Native?
Savings depend on your current team size and platform footprint. If you have 3 teams for Native iOS, native Android and Web, you can reduce that to just one team with React Native serving all. Total cost of ownership drops materially year on year reducing costs by more than 50% when you reduce a 3-team resourcing plan to just 1 team.
Can we extend our existing web product to Smart TV?
Yes. Many companies have expanded Web and browser solutions to Smart TVs. But React Native unifies native TV as well as web based platforms in the same codebase. So teams with an existing web product can extend to Smart TV while sharing components, business logic and design systems, rather than rebuilding from scratch.
Is React Native reliable for a long-term platform strategy?
Yes. It has over a decade of production use, is developed by Meta and now maintained by a global developer community, and hence is not tied to a single external roadmap. Your technology choice stays independent as the platform evolves.
What is the minimum engagement to get started?
For React Native or other tech-stack projects, you can engage Norigin Media for a scope of work or resource based consulting engagement. There is no minimum period to choose from, we work based on agreed scopes or durations.
