The CTV Days Conference was held in Miami earlier this month with a great list of attendees and representatives from all of the local & regional LATAM broadcasters including, NBC Telemundo, Televisa, Univision, Canela Media, and many more. The US Hispanic & Latin American focused event had a range of presentations in both Spanish and English, with one of the highlights being a chat between Ajey Anand from Norigin Media and Fonz Morris from Netflix.
Ajey introduced the design and UI/UX topics relevant to CTV Apps, paying particular attention to functional considerations of the fragmented OS and hardware space from Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, as well as the many Smart TVs from Samsung Tizen to Vizio in the USA. Fonz spoke about how Netflix has a strong and rooted foundation for UI/UX across all devices and has a track record for providing great availability and experiences to their consumers.
The moderator commented that Netflix has won the streaming wars. Fonz eloquently responded that they tend not to focus so much on a “war” as much as they continue to keep up with technology and remaining available in a competitive space, i.e. the 190 countries where Netflix operates. From technology to design, all the research that Netflix does is based on planned improvements and relevance to consumers.
On the topic of Ads, Netflix mentioned there’s a lot to lookout for in the coming years where interactivity and QR codes were both hinted at. Ajey spoke about how many Scandinavian CTV App providers already offer interactivity across devices with a range of Consumer Engagement methods, anything from voting for your favourite “Idol” contestant to polling public opinion during the nightly newscasts.
The CTV Days conference provided great insight into the US Hispanic & LATAM TV market, both at present and in the coming years. Whether it be revolutionising UI/UX with simple technology built for all devices or implementing new consumer interactivity features, Norigin Media is remaining informed and striving to be at the forefront of innovation in this space well into the future.
